A client of Companion Pets of Cleveland, Angela, recently sought assistance for her 11-year-old coonhound, Gus, who had been struggling with a persistent skin issue. What appeared to be a skin tag had grown and developed a concerning mass at its tip.

Angela’s household is a busy one, with five children and a dog and cat to care for. Situations like Gus’s highlight how quickly unexpected veterinary needs can arise and how overwhelming they can be for families.
With support from Companion Pets, Gus was referred to the Cleveland Animal Protective League (APL) for further evaluation. During his examination, Dr. Kristie Brock, DVM identified an additional lump that warranted closer investigation. Bloodwork and a cell extraction were performed to determine the appropriate next steps for his care.

Organizations like ours play a vital role in bridging that gap. Through the generosity of supporters, we are able to provide assistance when it is needed most ensuring that beloved pets like Gus receive timely medical attention and families receive the support they need during challenging circumstances.
We work in partnership with organizations such as the Cleveland APL to ensure that clients have access to high-quality veterinary care at a reasonable cost. These collaborations strengthen our ability to assist families in need while ensuring their pets receive timely, compassionate, and professional medical attention.
